- Bench-Scale Treatability Studies: For soil and groundwater in-situ remediation projects, bench-scale studies are conducted to evaluate emerging technologies, test applications of the existing technologies, and provide an opportunity to compare technologies for effectiveness and cost-efficiency. In-situ remediation projects can be divided into 3 categories:
-A series of required tests: Soil Oxidative Demand Test (SOD), metal mobilization test, etc.
-Reduction technologies
-Electron Scavenger Testing
-Biological technologies
These studies are specifically designed to address the requirements of the clients. Data are used to establish a better understanding of the natural conditions at the sites, determine reaction kinetics and design parameters for field remedial systems.
2. Lab scale/Pilot Scale Water/Groundwater Treatment Studies:
Contaminant removals-
-organic (i.e. hydrocarbons)
-inorganic (i.e. metals and non-metals)
-total dissolved and suspended solids (TDS & TSS)

3. Analytical Services: ACL personnel have developed a broad knowledge in characterizing unknown materials/contaminants through specialized analytical techniques, data generation, and interpretation. We offer consulting services to develop testing protocols for analysis of known/unknown compounds with unique characteristics requiring new or specialized methodologies and techniques.
4. Material Off-gassing: Materials off-gassing studies are conducted in small chambers both open and closed to the ambient air. The chamber studies can be performed under controlled conditions such as relative humidity and temperature. Any possible off-gassed volatiles or odorous compounds are then collected and analyzed to obtain a rate of release of the compounds of interest. The studies are designed and customized to suit the particular requirements and material(s) specifications.
